Been thinking a lot about language and accents lately. I was trying to explain to some of my new British friends what a New Orleans accent might sound like…but I think the language sector of my brain is getting a little scrambled (… between true Anglicisms, my American English, French, and Reunion kreol). I’ve started calling flashlights torches and using the word “proper” occasionally…
But I’ll never forget what you the call patch of green space in the middle of a road. It’s the NEUTRAL GROUND.
